Rosa's second month

Rosa's second month of life was ushered in with a 2 week visit from Auntie Kira, after Kira had recovered sufficiently from foot surgery. Auntie Kira has a magical touch with Rosa, and was better at putting Rosa to sleep than mommy was! Kira also taught us 10 or 20 new songs to sing for Rosa, usually while bouncing her to sleep.

While this month was still primarily about breastfeeding and sleeping, we started to see some of that mythical "quiet alert phase" we had heard so much about.  For example, the pediatrician told us we should "start doing tummy time during Rosa's quiet alert phase." She was so cute, trying to hold up that huge melon head with so little control of her neck. In the beginning, she'd never last for more than 5 minutes or so before getting frustrated.

At 6 weeks old, Rosa made her grand public debut at Ging and Alice's wedding. We saw lots of friends from the East Coast that we rarely see, and Rosa was a hit. By the time the reception and dance music came around, I think Rosa was so overwhelmed that she fell fast asleep for the rest of the night, despite being passed around to various admirers and polka dancing with daddy. Rosa also made it to her first practice with mommy's band, Making Dinner... she slept upstairs with Auntie Kira while the band practiced.

Also at around 6 weeks, just like the books said, Rosa started to smile and track us with her eyes.  Little did we know what a fantastic smiler she would turn out to be!

Late in Rosa's second month, Grandpa Frank and Nani Anita came out to meet the new grandbaby! It was also a chance to see cousins Loretta and Norman.

Just another sweet picture I wanted to include!
