Rosa's fourth month (Sept 26-Oct 25)

The big event this month was taking Rosa to her second wedding. Our friends Bill and Angela got married up in Napa, about 1.5 hours north of San Francisco. Rosa was the belle of the ball (besides the bride!) in her little black and white party dress from Auntie Daria. She did great through the wedding, and eventually fell asleep after getting a little overstimulated at the reception. While she slept most of the way there, the car ride home from the hotl the next day was pretty much screaming the whole way, even with me sitting next to her in the back. Made us not too eager to do another long car trip any time soon!

Besides big event like weddings, the day-to-day memories sort of blur together at this point. Good thing digital pictures are dated so I can see what was happening when! Moving out of the third month and into the fourth, I remember that the hands were getting better and better and grabbing and holding stuff, and of course delivering whatever they had caught to the mouth. It was time to start being careful about sitting at the table with Rosa, for example, since a fork or spoon or the whole placemat could come tumbling down.

In addition to the hands working now, Rosa did her first rolls in her fourth month - I remember telling the pediatrician that she rolled from her tummy to her back at her 4-mo appointment. She would do a big tall push-up, then flop over to the side, sometimes coming down kind of hard on the back of her little head, although most often she didn't seem to mind. Later on she finally managed to go the other way, from back to front. Jeff and I were incredulous because she had been trying so hard for weeks, but when she finally did it one day, she was pretty nonchalant about it. We weren't quick enough to catch these early rolls on video.

The other thing I started noticing was that she was starting to outgrow little outfits, that had become pretty beloved to me by now. I tend to get sentimental about things! But thanks to all the generous gifts from family and friends, she's got plenty of bigger super-cute outfits to grow into!

A last few pictures that I wanted to include are:
* Rosa's first ride in a swing... back then we had to use lots of blankets!
* venturing out with Rosa for brunch at our favorite diner with Lenny and Lin
* walking past a very pro-Obama apartment
* a visit from our friend Cynthia and her daughter Juni

    and i'm uber glad that the hopes felt walking past that obama-house have been realized with obama winning the election, watching the inauguration with you and rosa, and that rosa will benefit from our country's new leadership!

  2. very cute pictures of rosa and great descriptions. it's great that you are getting it all down even if it also gets a bit fuzzy.

    like the pic of her with legs in the air.

    see you at our favorite spot sometime soon or maybe even an intentional gathering!
