More brushing

Rosa loves to get her hair brushed. I use a really soft brush they gave us from the hospital when Eliza was born to get the tangles out, then my regular brush, just for the feel of it. Rosa sits very still with her head tipped a little bit back, her mouth a little bit open, and her eyes a little bit closed. When I stop, she says "More brushing!" I know exactly how she feels. I love getting my hair brushed too.

In other news, as of early June, Eliza is waving. I credit it to Papa Misha who was out visiting with Grandma Lois, and did some nice slow waving with Eliza. That was the first wave I saw from her, and now she's doing it more and more. In fact, she and I wave at each other every night when I put her down in her crib and am saying "Night night." I've found that if I keep a big smile on my face as I turn off the light and close the door, she usually doesn't cry. (Hope I'm not jinxing myself!)

And finally, we had an absolutely lovely 3rd birthday party for Rosa yesterday. At a playground (as requested), with lots of nice friends, and a beautiful day. What more could you ask. Pictures coming soon (it's too late to do all the downloading, selecting, uploading, captioning, etc. tonight).

Pico

Pico (pronounced Pee' ko), is Rosa's imaginary friend. She has talked about Pico for a long time, but it used to always be naming a baby doll or stuffed animal "Pico." Now, it's pretty clear that there is no physical object she's talking about, but there are long detailed accounts of the adventures she has with Pico, that very often include describing what form of public transit they have taken, where they sat, what they said to the driver and what the driver said to them. Go City Girl! I ask her questions about Pico - she says Pico is a girl, but often uses the pronoun "he" (she doesn't usually make this mistake); also, sometimes she talks about Pico and Panella, where Pico is a boy and Panella is a girl. Sometimes Pico is her twin and sometimes he is a baby (I think baby sister as opposed to HER baby). It's been really interesting to see this just take off in the last week or two.

Rosa is just fine!

After that weird night last night, Rosa did wake in the night, which is not unusually, unfortunately. But today she was completely her usual, go-go-go self with no hint of headache. :-)

June 2011 visit

Eliza said "Hey Mama" or something that sounded like it 2 days ago. She's been saying "a-da-da-da-da-da" for a couple weeks now.

Tonight, Rosa was doing her usual stalling at bath time, and started crying about not wanting to take a bath, which I ignored and set about making happen anyway. Then she really started crying in the bathroom, which I told her she would get in trouble for if she woke Eliza up. But she was whimpering so uncontrollably, I finally realized something was really wrong. She said her forehead hurt, and it must have been bad. I didn't see her fall or bump it or anything. I gave her some children's ibuprofen, and put her into her jammies. I left the room for about 30 seconds to fill the humidifier tank and came back to find her fast asleep on her floor. A full hour before she usually goes to bed (on a day when she's taken a nap). I've checked on her twice... I guess she's ok. Weird!

Also, here are a couple pictures from Grandma Lois and Papa Misha's recent trip. Turns out I didn't take many pictures. But Papa Misha did.

Here are my pix:

Rosa and her buddy Mateus at the little cars at the mall. At one point he had his arm around her!

Daddy and his girls.

Grandma Lois and Eliza.

One of those videos where you think it's a photo, but it's really on video. :-)

4 ladies!

Everyone in their jammies.

Rosa always finds cool settings on the keyboard. She was really jamming out, but of course stopped when I got the camera out.
